Why Hilltops exists
Hilltops is built on the idea that connection comes from shared experience. A lot of today’s apps take a convenience-first approach, trying to remove all friction from meeting new people. But in practice, that often doesn’t solve the problem. I’ve experienced this personally, especially while solo travelling, and wanted to make connection more about what I actually wanted to do. The rest comes naturally.
So I built something that felt more human than algorithm. It’s not that people don’t want to connect, it’s that the apps we use today don’t naturally support real-world participation.
With that in mind, Hilltops focuses on surfacing things happening around you and connecting you with others who are keen to join. It’s built around experiences like music events, sport, festivals, food markets and casual social activities. Things that already bring people together without needing to force it.
At its core, Hilltops is an app for having fun, meeting people, and making friends through real experiences. It’s for people who enjoy being out in the world and want more ways to do it with others. It’s still early and evolving, but the goal is simple: create something grounded in real connection, and make it easier to be part of it.

Hilltops isn't built around matching with individuals. It's built around plans. You meet people because you're heading to the same gig, joining the same pickup match, or signing up for the same activity. And the conversation starts with shared context, not a one-on-one DM.
Pick or create an activity. A gig, a sport, a meetup, a night out. Set the vibe, link an event if there is one, and you're in. Other people heading to the same thing join, you coordinate in chat, then meet up in person.
